Chris Hulme - Match Previews

20 October 2015

Saturday 24/10/15 MTFC Vs Alfreton FC (FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round)

Macclesfield Town entertain Alfreton in the FA Cup 4th qualifying round knowing that a win for either side would mean a place in the 1st round proper when leagues 1 and 2 teams enter the competition.

The Silkmen should go into the match the more confident of the two sides, having won 4 drawn 1 and lost 1 of the last 6 matches. Alfreton on the other hand have won 3 and lost 3 including a narrow 1 nil defeat at Edgeley Park.

The last time the two sides met was last season at the Impact Arena, Alfreton started the match very bright and took the lead after 8 minutes from the penalty spot when Bradley Wood sent Rhys Taylor the wrong way to make it 1 nil. From the restart the visitors started to press at the other end, and it was 2 goals from Matthew Barnes-Homer (17) (27) and one from Danny Whitaker (36) midway through the first half, that put the Silkmen in total control of the match. In the second half Macc added another two goals through Chris Holroyd (55) and Denny Johnstone (82) to seal a 1-5 victory.
